Lin Hsin Hsin is a Singaporean award-winning interdisciplinary artist, poet, composer, IT visionary, and inventor. A pioneer in digital art, she launched the world’s first virtual museum in 1994. Training in Mathematics at the University of Singapore and in Computer Science at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, she had studied under Cheong Soo Pieng and cites Paul Klee as an artistic influence. Lin Hsin Hsin’s early paintings from the 1980s reveal her keen interest in architectural design and the patterns of urban skylines. This contemplative painting dated 1982 demonstrates her refined sense of order, where geometric elements and graceful linear forms are delicately arranged within a rectangular format. Through the use of gentle brown and blue tones, the artist achieves a nuanced depth within the image. The artist’s innovative use of the oil medium is reflected through the delicate and precise layering of the paint creating a subtle, translucent effect.   Over her five-decade career, Lin has held more than 15 solo exhibitions in Singapore, Amsterdam, and San Jose, and participated in over 190 group shows worldwide. Her accolades include the Silver Medal from the Société des Artistes Français, Paris (1985), the IBM Singapore Art Award (1987), and fellowships in Germany (1988) and Japan (1990). In 2021, the National Gallery Singapore showcased her works from the 1970s to 1994 in Lin Hsin Hsin @ Speed Of Thought.
