Ahmad Shukri Elias’ paintings are characterised by a dynamic interplay of shapes, rhythmic lines, and vibrant colours that are filled with energy and movement. Distinct shades of green were applied with force together with swirls of black lines to evoke the semblance and vitality of a tree. Painted with spontaneity, his works could be read as a form of visual poetry on the reflections of life.  A. Shukri Elias started as a batik designer in Penang in 1980. He was then a graphic artist at the Universiti Saints Malaysia, producing illustration for schoolbooks. From 1982 to 1986, he pursued his studies and graduated with a BFA in Art & Design from University Technology Mara. A. Shukri Elias: A Solo Curated By Tsabri Ibrahim exhibition was held at National Art Gallery Malaysia (National Portrait Gallery) in 2017. His solo exhibition Primal Scores was held at Artas Galeri in 2022.
