The works of Husin Hourmain are infused with a vibrant, rhythmic energy, capturing the nuances of emotion through swift brushwork and layered textures. “Art is a unique adventure into an unknown world, including of self-discovery,” he had intoned. Husin studied Graphic Design at the Malaysian Institute of Art, graduating in 1982, and followed up with Photographic Studies at the National Youth Skills Institute in 1983. But he worked as a graphic designer in the advertising industry for 18 years from 1985-2003 before deciding to go fulltime into art. His recent solo exhibitions include Husin Hourmain 2013-2023, Core Design Gallery in collaboration with Harta Space (2024), and Vertical Limit: Endless Journey, Core Design Gallery (2023).
