Every rose has its thorns, a reminder that no one is perfect. Something beautiful can arise from a less ideal situation. The artist places emphasis on the subconscious, depicting man in a deserted landscape of pure fantasy. In a kneeling position, the figure is surrounded by whimsical objects including bubbles, roses, red balls, and a liquid clock. On the right, smoke from a fire rises into the air, signalling tension, stress or perhaps desire. The concerns of one’s private thoughts are expressed in a Pop Surrealism style. Sometimes when one is facing challenges or failures in life, it is easy to vent the anger, blaming it on others, or even blaming God. The figure / model painted inside was Buden (Samsudin Wahab), according to the artist. Ruzzeki Harris won the Gold award in the 2018 UOB Painting of the Year (Malaysia).
