Featured for the first time in Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers, the emotive works of prolific artist A. Shukri Elias are on offer. The artist used basic shapes including ink blots, lines, and colours that reflect his thoughts and meditations on life, delving deep into the understanding of humanity and its stories. An assortment of shapes, lines, rustic color tones, and texture form an arresting composition, representing the visual poetry of the artist. A. Shukri Elias started as a batik designer in Penang in 1980. He was then a graphic artist at the Universiti Saints Malaysia, producing illustration for schoolbooks. From 1982 to 1986, he pursued his studies and graduated with a BFA in Art & Design from University Technology MARA. A. Shukri Elias: A Solo Curated By Tsabri Ibrahim exhibition was held at National Art Gallery Malaysia (National Portrait Gallery) in 2017.
