The artwork tenderly captures a group of baby birds nestled together, evoking a sense of warmth. The scene is framed by sturdy tree trunks and leaves that provide the birds with shelter and shade from the external world. Through the composition, the artist depicts the wonder of nature, and its ability to provide sustenance.  In Tay Poi San’s practice, ink serves as a fluid medium through which he unites traditional Eastern techniques with modern modes of expression. His works draw upon the refined sensibilities of classical Chinese landscape painting while simultaneously infusing a vibrant contemporary aesthetic, resulting in poetic compositions that explore the boundaries between reality and abstraction. His solo exhibition in Paris entitled Rivers Of Ink: The Flowing Legacy Of Tay Poi San was held at the Vanities Gallery in 2025. His artistic career extends over several decades, beginning with his first major solo exhibition in 1995 at Newhill Art Gallery in Malaysia. He has participated in international shows that include the Hong Kong Ink Global Art Festival in 2021, exhibitions in Shenzhen in 2022, and the London Art Biennale in 2023.
