Sri Mersing 3 is a fine depiction of a calm evening sky with cumulus cloud formations that give depth to the composition. The reflections and colours of the drifting clouds in the ocean unites the scene. Fleeting moments of the evening atmosphere are swiftly recorded, projecting soft tones and glimmering light across the water waves. It is a hallmark of the veteran artist painting for 60 years that at 85, he is still working on his canvas. Sanip was one of the early Malays who graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, in 1961. His is a lifelong devotion to landscape with series such as Sri Mersing, Endau-Rompin, Gunung Ledang and Gelorasa. He was also a past president of the Johor Artists Society and the Johor Historical Society.
