Chen Wenling is a prominent contemporary artist known for his expressive large scaled figurative sculptures. He graduated from the Xiamen Academy of Art and Design in 1991 and received his Master of Fine Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, graduating in 1994. His charming red sculptures combine realism with surreal elements, and are rooted in childhood memories, evoking a sense of innocence, nostalgia and resilience. His sculptures have been exhibited in Art Basel in Switzerland, Pulse Miami Beach Contemporary Art Fair, 55th Venice Biennale, Italy, and the Shanghai Biennale. In 1999, he was honoured with the prestigious Golden Lion Award at the Venice Biennale in Italy.
