Often dubbed as the Andy Warhol of Singapore, Justin Lee is a celebrated pop artist who is known for using art as a means to pit Asian values against 21st century consumerism in an era dominated by capitalism. In recent years he has delved into socially engaged art in Japan through the participation of art residency programmes. His works are well collected and commissioned by various institutions and private collections such as Singapore Art Museum, Capitaland Group and Meta (Singapore). Justin Lee received his Master of Fine Arts at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore / Goldsmiths University of London in 2016. He was awarded the Mont Blanc Young Artist World Patronage Project in Hamburg, Germany (2007), Highly Recommended Award at the Philip Morris Singapore Art Awards (2005), the Singapore Motorola Style Award (2005), and the Highly Recommended Award in the Singapore UOB Painting of the Year (2003). His solo exhibitions include I am a CON artist: Continuous Contemplations of Justin Lee (2021) and They Used To Be My Playground, Art Seasons Gallery, Singapore (2020). Selected group exhibitions include Polyphony South East Asia, Nanjing Art Museum, Nanjing, China (2019), The Circle of Life, Japan Creative Centre, Singapore (2017), and South by Southeast, 5 group artists exhibition - Yibo Gallery, Shanghai China (2016).
