The sculptures of Zainuddin focus on shapes and forms to express the world around him, infused with personality and narrative. Zainuddin was born in Kuala Nerang, Kedah. He studied art formally while attending a Diploma in Art and Design (Fine Metal) course at Institut Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam from 1987 to 1991. He has succeeded in obtaining a Bachelor of Education (Art) in 2002 and a Master of Education (Art) in 2005 at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim. Afterwards, in 2018, he completed his Ph.D in Art and Design (Art History) at the Faculty of Art and Design, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. In the early 1990s, he worked in the field of metal craftsmanship and landscape design. The higher tendency toward gold craftsmanship field led him to deepen the techniques of designing and producing jewellery. Through his experience and design skills, manufacturing, marketing, and management, he assumed the position of general manager at Warnies Jewel Sdn. Bhd. He has been in the field of goldsmith for over 10 years. In the education sector, he has served more than 20 years at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Perak. At the same time, he was also a part-time lecturer at the Institut Kraftangan Negara (IKN) for over 10 years in the field of metal craft, jewellery design and making. His teaching disciplines include liberal study and studio practice based (fine art and metal craft). He is also involved in research, creative design, studio practice and art exhibition. He actively explores sculpture, silk screen printing and painting. He participated in recent exhibitions which include 'KALIMA' – Balai Seni Lukis Melaka (2023), BSLN - Arca Dasar Laut, Langkawi, Kedah (2022). His works are in the collection of National Art Gallery Malaysia, local and foreign art collectors.
