Sanip's bright, colourful canvases uplift, expressing joy and his daily experiences. My Way conveys a sense of rhythm through the interplay of flowing curved shapes. Sensous curved lines are seen intersecting with geometrical shapes in the background, merged with kaleidoscopic gestural forms across the canvas. His vivid compositions form a delicate balance between the spatial arrangements of forms. The famous song I Did It My Way lingers in the mind... It is a hallmark of the veteran artist painting for 60 years that at 86, he is still working on his canvas. Sanip was one of the early Malays who graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, in 1961. His is a lifelong devotion to landscape with series such as Sri Mersing, Endau-Rompin, Gunung Ledang and Gelorasa. He was also a past president of the Johor Artists Society and the Johor Historical Society.
