A local eatery, with customers squatting on wooden stools placed on long benches becomes a unique focal point of the artwork. Many trishaw workers used to frequent these stalls offering soothing porridge and side dishes. It was believed that the trishaw workers preferred to squat as the position relieved muscles. The fusion of light and shadow creates a strong effect, exuding a warm sense of nostalgia. The artist has only painted few pieces of oil paintings, this is one of them. More commonly on offer are his watercolour pieces.
With many solo exhibitions along his journey as an artist, Alex Leong has been actively participating in group exhibitions locally and abroad, e.g. Singapore, China, Indonesia, and Korea.
