Wong Jong Nong excelled in themes such as the natural landscape and fishing villages, recorded in an impressionistic manner. A wooden kampung house is surrounded by vast trees, a perfect spot to unwind and relax. The calm and peaceful abode offers picturesque views surrounded by dense forests, unaffected by modern development. Multiple variations of green and brown hues add charm to the rustic countryside atmosphere, reflecting the shifting patterns of colour and light. Born in Singapore, Wong spent his early childhood in Hainan, China. After his studies in NAFA, he opted to become a Malaysian and based himself in Kuala Lumpur, when Singapore split from Malaysia. He had only two solos, in Kuala Lumpur — at the LC Yat Antique and Gallery (1994) and the Yan Fine Art Gallery (2008).
