Ong Hieng Fuong is an emerging contemporary painter and printmaker known for his figurative and landscape works. He is known for capturing everyday scenes drawn from experience and memory with great attention to detail. Before the advent of e-commerce / delivery services, when life was simple, a visit to the night market was a popular past time for the locals. Evening visits to the market was a stimulating experience, where stalls are laid out in an open space, offering diverse varieties of food, clothes, and household items. Furthermore, one gets to observe different people and vendors, while walking through the narrow lanes.
His solo exhibition Innocent Bystander was held at The Back Room, Kuala Lumpur (2026). He received his Bachelor's degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. Prior to this, he participated in the Ilham Art Show 2025 at Ilham Gallery, KL, New Figures (2025) at The Back Room KL, as well as international art fairs including Art Jakarta 2024 and ART SG 2024. His achievements include winning the Gold Prize in the Established Artist Category at the UOB Painting of the Year competition in 2019. In 2017, he received the Nando's Art Initiative Grand Prize and the UOB Painting of the Year award in the Emerging Artist Category, where he was also recognised as the competition's Most Promising Artist.
