The artist is known for his ability to create simple yet harmonious compositions that evoke emotions. Although his works do not have figures, in every scene he carefully imbues each object with meaning. For instance, the jetty serves as a symbol of rest, a calming sanctuary from the uncertainties. The anchor and ropes embody restraint, stability, and control, representations that ground the individual amid transition.   Zaim Durulaman has been a full-time artist since 1990. He received his bachelor’s in Art and Design (Graphic Design) at Mara University of Technology (UiTM), Shah Alam, Selangor (1984-1988). His solo exhibitions include Beyond Iconography, Galeri Tapak (2004). A talented artist in using various media, he has participated in local and international exhibitions in countries such as Brunei, Vietnam, China, Japan, Korea, Macedonia, Tunisia and Dubai. His works are collected by museums, corporations, banks, and private collectors around the world. He is a lecturer at Unisel.
