Nguyen Lam's paintings have a distinct yet traditional Fauve style, with a strong emphasis on flat perspective and the use of light to create emotions. Nguyen Lam is a contemporary Vietnamese master that graduated from the National School of Fine Arts Saigon in 1965. He was also a professor at the Nation School of Decoration and Fine Arts, Gia Dinh. Known for his abstract artworks, Nguyen Lam has exhibited around the world from Vietnam to the United States, Japan, France, Belgium, India, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. He also received numerous prizes and awards for his works spanning from 1962 onwards. Specialising in lacquer painting he was chosen by the French consulate to restore a rare painting by Nguyen Gia Tri (Vietnam's legendary lacquer painter) in 2013. Nguyen Lam's paintings appear in permanent collections of the Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts and several private collections in Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and USA. Nguyen Lam's work is also in the collection of National Gallery Singapore.
