A tranquil moment captured in the historic city of Venice, Italy. As the morning light envelops these surrounding buildings, a magnificent array of vibrant tones was used to capture the life of the city. The composition is enlivened with a striking contrast between light and shadow, infusing the scene with a sense of optimism. Self-trained painter Loo Hooi Nam has held several solo exhibitions such as at Galeri Seni Mutiara, Penang; City Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur and Li Chi Mao Art House, Malacca in 2012. He won a gold award for the SP Setia Art Fair Penang in 2001. He is also the recipient of Pesta Pulau Pinang prizes in 1993, 1994 and 1997. Loo is a member of the Penang Art Society, Penang Watercolour Society, Angkatan Pelukis Kedah and Central Kedah Art Society. His solo titled Rhythms & Resonances was held at the Penang State Art Gallery in 2011.
