The works of Dato’ Tajuddin Ismail are inspired by nature and its underlying forms. Painted with a variety of textures and surface layering, this work is an expression of his experience, worldview, and spiritual values. Combining the long-standing tradition of humanity observing nature, the geometrical composition evokes a romantic and lyrical mood, with contrasts in colour that heighten the emotional effect. Dato' Tajuddin graduated in Graphic Design at the Art Centre College of Design in Los Angeles, the United States, in 1974. He did his Post-graduate Interior Architecture at the Pratt Institute in New York in 1979-1981. His accolades include the Major Award, National Drawing Competition in 1977; Minor Award, National Graphic Art, National Art Gallery, 1978; Minor Award, Salon Malaysia, 1979; and Minor Award, National Design Council, 1994. He set up TJ Fine Art in 2004. After teaching at the University Mara Institute of Technology for several years, he joined Sunway University as Fine Arts Department Associate Professor and Academic Adviser.
