A thin veil attempts to obscure the man’s eyes, but it’s not doing much. However, to see things for what they truly are, the veil must be taken away; our prejudices and biases discarded in order to see the true picture. The question is, do you know what your veil is? From the artwork title, it seems to also suggest: Let go and let God take control of your life. Liv Vinluan finished her Fine Arts degree with honours (cum laude) at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. Her undergraduate triptych series, Sin Verguenzas, won the college’s Dominador Castaneda Award for Most Outstanding Thesis in 2009. With her evolving yet distinct visual style, she has created images that merge both realism and fantasy: scapes and portraits that evoke intensity and movement.
