Khalil showered his images of the East Coast community with movement and expression. The freshness of colour and airiness is characteristic of his watercolor paintings. His figures of women are dressed elegantly in batik sarongs, walking along the vast shoreline, exuding a sense of delight. Khalil developed his own approach to landscape, using devices such as the azure sky, horizon, and reflection of light on the coastal wet sands. The works of Khalil Ibrahim have been collected by the National Museum in Singapore, Fukuoka Museum of Art in Japan, New South Wales Museum of Art in Sydney, Royal National Art Gallery of Jordan, National Art Gallery Malaysia, and Bank Negara Malaysia Museum & Art Gallery, etc.
