Trap narrates the solitary times collectively experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic, where social interactions, work, and travel were limited (MCO, Movement Control Order) to prevent the outbreak. During this period of widespread lockdowns, many individuals experienced alterations in the passage of time. Each figure is enclosed within a small circular unit, resembling a clock which hints at the passing of the day. Cai Bin expresses the sentiments of the period through this poignant composition rendered in monochrome hues.
Ong Cai Bin graduated from Dasein Academy of Art in 2015. Cai Bin's interest lies in the expression of self in spaces, environments, and relationships. Her list of accolades includes the Gold Award in the UOB Painting Of The Year (Emerging Artist Category) in 2017, Finalist in the Bakat Muda Sezaman '19, National Art Gallery Malaysia, and 1st Runner Up in Nando's Art Initiative, Fine Art Category in 2018. Her solo exhibition Importance Of Unimportance was held in 2019.
