Effi’s colourful, intriguing works are satirical in nature, raising questions on the confining spatial design of cheap housing. Within Pencinta Flora, Effi discusses the current living conditions of constricting spaces stacked upon each other within proximity. His emotional experience is translated upon the canvas fusing together architectural elements and human intervention of landforms to suggest a theatrical display. As land for development becomes scarce, will future homes be reduced to mere boxes? Effi observes the current scenarios of residential areas and imagines how it would impact the future. A hint of light is seen at the end of the tunnel.
His selected group exhibitions include Muda Mudi, Segaris Art Center (2016), We Know We Care, Contemporary Art Group Show of Emerging Artists, Jeth gallery Kuala Lumpur (2017), U12 presented by Curate Henry Butcher and Galeri Prima (2018), Morphosis, Galeri Prima (2018), and Segaris Art Center 10th Anniversary Show (2021).
