Zac Lee employs confident and refined painterly techniques to reinterpret national iconography through a striking graphic visual language. Characterized by bold compositions, graceful brushstrokes, and a keen sensitivity to form and colour, his works seamlessly bridge contemporary aesthetics with familiar symbols.
Zac Lee graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1990, followed by a Diploma in Illustration from the The One Academy of Design in 1993. In 2006, he was awarded a sponsorship by Freeman Fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center. He was subsequently selected for the Three Shadows Residency in Beijing in 2010. Lee was named a finalist in the Sovereign Asian Art Prize Hong Kong in 2014 and received the silver award at the UOB Painting of the Year in 2020. He participated in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition 2023 at the Mall Galleries, London. His solo exhibition, Another Day, was presented by Richard Koh Fine Art at Gillman Barracks, Singapore in 2023.
