Julia Volchkova is an acclaimed Russian artist known for her mesmerizing murals that highlight the people from the local communities. Born in Nizhnevartovsk, Siberia, she graduated with a degree in Arts and Design from Nizhnevartovsk State University in 2010. Trained in the classical Russian academic tradition, Volchkova work captures the nuanced expressions from different cultures through her depictions of the human figure. Her large scaled murals can be found across the world, including Malaysia, Australia, Belgium, Europe, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. In 2017, she was honoured with the Worldwide Excellence Award in Malaysia in recognition of her contributions to public art and her role in elevating mural painting as a powerful medium for storytelling. In recent years, she has expanded her artistic practice into contemporary painting, bringing the emotional depth, rich textures, and narrative qualities of her murals onto canvas. Her latest solo was held at Avantx Art Gallery, Penang in June 2026.
