Best known for her reflective figurative works, Fadilah captures daily experiences and emotions onto the canvas. The work depicts a fresh-faced elegant beauty painted with sophistication, engaged in the act of reading. Through her distinctive palette consisting of earthy tones, dark browns, greys and white, Fadilah renders the inner life of the subject, offering a glimpse at a memory with a dreamlike atmosphere.
Fadilah Karim made history when she was given a retrospective of sorts for her only 10 years of art practice by Segaris Art Centre called, A Decade: Fadilah Karim 2010-2020.
