On offer here are two intimate studies by Khalil Ibrahim depicting a female portrait and an idyllic landscape. Khalil employed a remarkable use of transitions in colour to illustrate the portrait of a young female with a dreamy appearance. On the other work, the relationship between the huge trees and the contours of the mountainous terrain at the background is delicately portrayed, connecting the viewer to the sensorial beauty of landscape. Khalil Ibrahim was a highly skilled and versatile artist, who was adept in acrylic, watercolour, batik, ink and etchings. His works have been collected by the National Museum in Singapore, Fukuoka Museum of Art in Japan, New South Wales Museum of Art in Sydney, Royal National Art Gallery of Jordan, National Art Gallery Malaysia, and Bank Negara Malaysia Museum & Art Gallery.
