Drawing from multiple visual sources from our everyday lives, Dewa Ngakan Nyoman Suputra specialises in detailed hyperrealist oil paintings. Visually compelling, his paintings span across several subjects, as he is equally adept in various themes ranging from portraiture to still life. In this picture, Dewa depicts the burning process of a matchstick, whereby the flame causes the breaking down of the wood into ash, altering its shape to bend. A poignant contemplation on life and the process of nature. Dewa Ngakan Nyoman Suputra received his education at STSI Denpasar (1996-2001). His solo exhibitions were held at Griya Santrian Gallery (2008), and Elcanna Gallery Jakarta (2009).
