The artist expresses his inner emotions, allowing the viewer to enter his mysterious and intricate dream world. In Masked Indio, a figure is looking in an upward direction seemingly veering towards the light in a relaxed pose. Depicted in Randy Solon’s signature brand of hyperrealism, the work delves deep into the heart and mind to evaluate internal desires and perceptions. His photorealist skill is enhanced by a dramatic play of light and shadow. The gestures of the human body accompanied by its surrounding objects, including a chair reveals glimpses of vulnerability. Randy ‘Anloi’ Solon won the Grand Prize in the 2006-2007 National Telephone Directory Cover competition. He was thrice finalist in the Shell national students painting competition in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He had BFA (Major, Painting) at the College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines, and a Certificate in Advertising from the Philippines Women’s University in Manila. His solo exhibition, Mimesis, was held at Modeka Art, Makati, Manilla in 2022.
